“Dewey Defeats Truman” – The First Failed “Deep State” Election

With much hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth, the nation braces for our first reality-star presidency. The pointy hoods now removed, Trumps Breitbartian machine begins to mold the primordial slime into a frightening array of cabinet officials and law dogs.

The biggest losers? Count the mainstream media among them. Nobody will trust network news anymore, and were fools to ever trust them in the first place. But let’s take a look at how history repeats itself; The Dewey Truman presidential race of 1948.

Let’s set the stage with Professor Carroll Quigley in his massive historical work “Tragedy And Hope” referring to postwar political alingment:

“This lineup, with its multitude of exceptional cases, found the intellectuals (including the scientists), the internationalists, the minorities, and the cosmopolitans in the Democratic Party, with the businessmen, bankers and clerks in the Republican Party. The isolationism of the latter, combined with their inability to cope with the world depression or with the international crisis arriving from Hitler, kept the Democrats in the White House for twenty years (1933-1953). The defeat of Dewey by Truman was a bitter pill…” (p. 879)

In 1947 a National Security Act began the transition from the World War 2-era Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and The Office of Policy Coordination (OPC) into the emerging Central Intelligence Agency. President Truman signed that order into existence, something he regretted after the Kennedy assassination when he called for revoking the CIA’s charter.

Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles were major players in the transition. Allen had been head of the OPC, soon to be CIA director, and John Foster would lead Eisenhower’s State Department. Both were powerful Wall Street lawyers who dealt on an international level. In 1948, Thomas Dewey was the Republican front-runner for the Presidency. Dewey, also a Wall Street Lawyer was the eastern establishment’s favorite while Truman had faced a challenge from Henry Wallace, FDR’s former V.P. and Secretary of Agriculture. (1)

Dewey’s top foreign policy adviser was John Foster Dulles, along with brother Allen and Nelson Rockefeller. Rockefeller had run propaganda and espionage operations in Latin America during the war. Also on Dewey’s team were James Forrestal and George Kennan. (2) That’s one hell of a ‘Deep State” operation.

As far as foreign policy and intelligence, Truman sided with his newly created CIA, while the Dulles faction was staffed by former OPC members. At the end of WW2, Truman’s CIA was hunting Nazis at the same time the Dulles OPC faction was recruiting Nazis. In fact, while Truman wanted to ban Nazis from entering the U.S., the State Department anticipated a Dewey victory. In a potentially treasonous act, they sanitized the Nazi’s files and lied to Truman as thousands of Nazis came to America.(3)

In their book “The Secret War Against The Jews”, John Loftus and Mark Aarons write:

“A number of “the old spies” we talked to about the Dewey-Forrestal-Dulles alliance say that Dewey was coordinating his political strategy with Forrestal through the Dulles brothers to undermine the President” (p. 176)

The big split in foreign policy during The Cold War was an issue of “containment” or “rollback”. This referred to containing The Soviet Union within its borders, or “rollback” and liberation of Soviet client states. Truman obviously favored containment and the Dewey-Dulles team favored rollback.

Hunting Communists within the U.S. government was reaching to new heights. It was at this time a young Richard Nixon took a chance with his reputation and presented the Dewey-Dulles team with information on the Whittaker Chambers / Algier Hiss case, a red-hunt that “Fed the cold war hysteria for the Republicans for decades”. (4)

With this confidence among the Dewey team, the office of the President was a sure thing. So much so that The Chicago Daily Tribune printed the above newspaper headline “Dewey Defeats Truman”.. As the election results came in, that confidence was shattered. As Wikipedia points out:

“Truman, as it turned out, won the electoral vote by a 303–189–39 majority over Dewey and Dixiecrat candidate Strom Thurmond, though a swing of less than one percent of the popular vote in Ohio, Illinois, and California would have produced a Dewey victory.[5] Instead of a Republican sweep of the White House and retention of both houses of Congress, the Democrats not only won the Presidency, but also took control of the Senate and the House of Representatives.[6][7]”

The Dulles team slithered along and rebuilt its strength under the Eisenhower administration, where the CIA would begin its conquest of the world.

Was the historical 2016 Presidential win by Donald Trump actually a “Deep State” failure?
Perhaps not. There are many tentacles to the octopus-like beast. The American political machine may not be as monolithic as we believed. Let me introduce a very valuable podcast from CounterPunch, featuring Bob Fitrakis. In it, Fitrakis asserts that there are so many statistical anomalies in the vote count that if this election had been held in a foreign country it would not have been certified by U.S. election monitors. Please listen to the podcast at this link:

Some of what Fitrakis talks about can also be found in a short article by Robert C. Koehler at this link:

Election Theft and Racist Elitism

““But, the evidence already in our hands makes me sadly confident in saying, Jim Crow, not the voters, elected Mr. Trump,” writes Greg Palast, a long-time journalistic sleuth on behalf of election integrity.

“. . . This country is violently divided,” he continues, “but in the end, there simply aren’t enough white guys to elect Trump nor a Republican Senate. The only way they could win was to eliminate the votes of non-white guys — and they did so by tossing Black provisional ballots into the dumpster, ID laws that turn away students — the list goes on.

“It’s a web of complex obstacles to voting by citizens of color topped by that lying spider, Crosscheck” — which Palast described in detail in a Rolling Stone article last August.

Under the guise of combating the bogus problem of “voter fraud” (evil people voting multiple times, or non-citizens pretending to be citizens so they can cast one or more ballots), Republican operatives developed a strategy to eliminate large swaths of voters with last names indicating they are probably African-American, Latino or Asian, simply by finding duplicates of people with the same, or similar, names in other states. Of the 7.2 million names on the Crosscheck list, 1.1 million wound up getting removed from the voting rolls by Election Day, according to Palast.

Another long-time election integrity investigator, Jonathan Simon, closely monitored the 2016 exit polls. Such polls are considered a highly accurate means to gauge the honesty of foreign elections, but sometimes prove awkwardly problematic here in the U.S.

Simon noted a national disparity between exit poll data and election results from Clinton to Trump of 3.2 percent. Furthermore, the shift gave Trump victories in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida and Michigan. If Clinton had won them, as the polls indicated she would, she would have wound up with 336 electoral votes to Trump’s 188, according to Simon. The specter this disparity opens up is vote count fraud, in particular, the hacking of computer votes — the fairly easy possibility of which has long been controversial.”

——————————————

So, if the not-so-monolithic “Deep State” threw Clinton under the bus, what was the trigger that caused this to happen?

I’m going out on a limb here, but I think it is what was really on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. FBI Director James Comey made a very big move by reopening the Clinton e-mail case eleven days before the election. Many people are speculating that it had more to deal with blackmail against the Clinton’s than just an e-mail scandal. When the NYPD got a hold of Weiner’s laptop in a charge of “sexting” to minors, there may have been much more dirt on that laptop. Rudi Giuliani has spies all over the NYPD and the New York FBI office. At the time of the second FBI/Comey letter of investigation, Giuliani was livid that there was something very, very big going to break.

My speculation, and that of a handful of others is that it has to do with the Jeffery Epstein “Lolita Express” case of child trafficking that involves both the Clinton’s and Trump, as well as many other big names.

It is entirely possible that a deal was cut with the Clinton’s, to wash out the election in order for potential charges to be dropped.

We shall see…

I learned quite a bit in reading this huge book, which probably was meant for college classes. Author Elliot West clearly outlines […]
