Washington experiencing ‘mutiny’ over Syrian conflict

The US Defense Department effectively rebelled against the president’s authority when it said it may or we may not comply with the ceasefire, says former MI6 agent and founder of the Conflicts Forum Alastair Crooke.
While US-Russia cooperation in Syria has been in the spotlight, culminating in a heated exchange at a UN Security Council meeting, Syria’s president dismissed the accusations that his army attacked a UN aid convoy near Aleppo.
Bashar Assad suggests the US airstrike which killed 62 Syrian soldiers was not a mistake, as Washington claims. At the same time, Washington is increasingly torn between how to move forward in the Syria conflict.

RT: The trust between US and Russia took a major blow over the past week with American coalition planes hitting the Syrian army and the Humanitarian Aid convoy being hit. Do you think there’s still a chance for cooperation?
AC: I think it is very clear that the attempt to have a détente, and after all this is not the first president to try and attempt a détente with Russia. Eisenhower was the first and that was sunk by the CIA and the Gary Powers incident [The incident occurred in 1960 when an American U-2 spy plane, flown by CIA pilot Gary Powers. Powers parachuted to safety and was released by Soviet officials after two years imprisonment- Ed]. What we are seeing now is the sinking of President Obama’s attempt at a détente with Russia. He is facing a concerted opposition of the Department of Defense, the CIA, the New York Times, Washington Post and the Democratic candidate. Can he prevail against that? I don’t think so. From what we’ve just seen, it is not likely. So, all this noise and accusations are basically about America trying to get advantage back out of an unpromising situation. Just as we saw during the MH17 incident in Ukraine, immediately going and accusing Russia of being behind it before the facts were known, before any investigation was made. We see the same thing here, going straight online saying, of course, Russia is responsible for everything that has happened. This is just the war of narratives that the West is very good at because it controls completely the mainstream media.

Let’s be clear what Crooke is saying here; The Defense Department, the CIA, the media and yes – “the Democratic candidate” are out to sink Obama’s peace proposals. Crooke also brings up the downing of the U-2 spy plane during the Eisenhower administration. It is now known that Eisenhower had forbidden his spy agency from using that flight, and they disobeyed his order. The U-2 was sabotaged, dropped in altitude and was at an altitude where the Russians could shoot it down. Powers, who had suicide pills with him, had military identification which was also forbidden. Eisenhower’s negotiations with the Russians were effectively shit-canned.
The same thing is happening to Obama. In July 2015 we reported on Obama’s attempt to wrest control of his State Department, a major tool that slipped from his grip with the overthrow of Ukraine by NATO and the CIA. That nest of Nazis were run by Victoria Nuland, wife of Robert Kagan.

Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, using an unencrypted phone, was caught in an outright manipulation of political opposition figures in Ukraine. While discussing the reluctance of the E.U. to impose sanctions designed to hurt the pro-Russian government, Nuland blurted out “Fuck the E.U.”. The conversation was allegedly posted on YouTube by the Russians, intending to expose the meddling.

Nulands silver tongue was explained away by spokeswoman Jen Psaki as language she had learned while working on a Russian Trawler when she was 22 years-old. My estimate is that would have been around 1984. I have met lots of fishermen and longshoremen on the Pacific Coast and I have never heard of one of them serving on a Russian trawler. And to think that little girl grew up to be an American neo-con spearheading an operation to lure Ukraine into the reaches of western banks and potentially position Ukraine as a staging ground for western military interests.

Nulands “Hot Talk” revolved around three opposition leaders to the pro-Russian government run by Viktor Yanukovich. Nuland favors wonkish Arseniy Yatsenyuk to join Ukriaine’s government over German favored ex-boxer Vitali Klitschko and Fascist Oleh Tyahnybok, pictured above on the left of the photo.
Klitschko is described as not having done his homework, but the muscle on the streets represents avowed Fascist Tyahnybok.
