And now for something a little lighter:
Melanie Safka was one of those performers that played late at night during Woodstock.
She is most remembered today for the Am song “I got a brand new pair of roller skates” or some such title.
But here she is with The Edwin Hawkins Singers (“Oh Happy Day”) cranking out “Lay Down – Candles in the Rain”
This song really displays her singing range, and the acapella Hawkins group is really good also.
About 4 minutes in they start filming the crowd:
Check out the ages, it’s hard to find someone under Fifty. From the brief credits at the end, it appears that the show may have been filmed in Germany or Holland.
